I hate committees - meeting tend to go on for hours, no decision is reached easily, everyone has an agenda and everyone wants to be top dog but mostly I hate committees because of the lack of responsibility.
Committees are able to hide behind the numbers. No one person can be held accountable as it was a join decision - it is exactly this reason why committees fail to deliver. If you get 5 doctors in the room, you get 7 opinions - now how do you make a decision ?
When you play a Tennis game - it’s you verses the opponent. Loose of Win its down to you. Therefore you train hard, you double check your equipment, you arrange extra workouts to sort out that backhand - after all you don’t want to look like a fool.
This is the Power of One.
In Business there is nothing greater than making someone responsible for a task. They rise to the occasion, they overachieve, they are proud to present their findings. I am not saying they need to do it alone, but only ONE person needs to be responsible for the task.
When someone is responsible they change from making excuses why something cannot be done - to someone who comes up with decisions to get things done !
