There are Mouse-Guys and there are Keyboard-Guys. If you are Mouse-Guy you like to use the mouse to do click on everything and don’t really like to use the shortcut keys like ALT+F to open the File Menu. You would prefer to click on File to open up that Menu.
However, if you are Keyboard Guy you like to use the Keyboard to do everything and hate stopping just to pick up the mouse to click on something.
Well, this little tip can speed up your life whilst using Vista (especially if you are a Keyboard Man)
As you know that the Quick Launch menu in Vista allows you to have quick access to application that you use regularly. Simple Drag and Drop the app into the Quick Launch menu and then whenever you want to use it, you click on it.
What you might not be aware of is that Vista automatically assigns HOT Keys to each of those applications so you can launch them direct from the keyboard !
Each of the application in the Quick Launch menu has been given a number from 1-10 starting from Right to Left. Now the kewl thing - to launch the application simply hold the Windows Logo Button (see below) on your keyboard and press the number assigned to your app !

Let take this example:

I have in my Quick Launch menu the following: Show Desktop, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Outlook, UltraEdit, Flip3D
Vista automatically assigned the following for me without me having to do Nothing :
-
Show Desktop = 1
-
Internet Explorer = 2
-
Microsoft Outlook = 3
-
UltraEdit = 4
-
Flip3d = 5
So to launch Outlook, I simply hold down the Windows Button and press 3 -

to launch the Desktop, I simply hold down the Windows Button and press 1 -

By the way, to launch application number 10, you press the Windows Button and press 0 (zero)
