unless you have been in a cave somewhere (Osama ?), you will know that more and more people are using their mobile phones to browse the net.
However, since most websites are designed to work with desktop/laptop devices, they either simply do not work or don’t display correction on the mobile phones.
this means that 1.3 billion mobile users in the world can not view these websites.
this is where companies like Swift Telecoms (www.swifttelecoms.co.za) come in – they will evaluate your company’s mobile strategy and will design a Mobi site for you !
Make no mistake – more and more devices are able to browse the web. Even new digital cameras have the ability to upload images directly onto Flicker or You Tube.
the Mobile Internet revolution is starting – just make sure you are not left behind…

Completely agree Techie Guy. 4x as many people own mobile phones as PC’s, and even that figure is very misleading when thinking about how many of those PC’s are actually linked to the web (particularly in developing countries).
Despite claims from proxy browsers and pinch&pull smartphones to the contrary, the mobile web will be no less transformational for content owners and web designers than was the original incarnation of the web. At the end of the day, content owners will want content that is useful for customers outside the office, not just sitting at the desk. No browsing of annual reports while walking down the street, but content that is useful for me and thinks about what I need when I am out and about.
You mentioned the digital camera and Flicker – you are right, that is cool. But so is content that takes advantage of all the things a mobile has that a PC doesnt – GPS, camera scanner, interactive address book, automated Twitter-like microblogging etc. – and, yes, voice calling. Innovative web developers will incorporate all of these unique new toys into mobile content, creating a whole new experience. When the newness of pinching and pulling on PC sites wears off, customers will browse sites that offer the best service, and web developers will have a whole new way to set themselves apart.
Keep it up, Techie Guy. Regards,

Thanks Trey for your addition !
and also for http://mtld.mobi – THE best resource on the net for anyone who is serious about the Mobi environment…
the possibilities are endless – there are more and more Mobi sites that use “traditional” web thinking but incorporating them into the mobile world. Items like Google maps being incorporated into a company Mobi site telling customers how to get to their office – simple but very useful !
Mobility is all about having access to information wherever you are !
